Gun Level Up . Unlockables . Anime DVD . Speculation . Credits . Links -------- Overview -------- This game, as the title implies, is the vol.2 of the Gun Action series based on anime and manga by Yu Aida called Gunslinger Girl. If you have vol.1’s save file, you can convert it here so that all that you have unlocked in vol.1 is there in vol.2 as well. Vol.2 gives another alternative costume for Henrietta, more guns (none appears to be anyone’s trademarks from the anime) and 3 more levels. ------ Basics ------ Here are the basic controls: Square button : Concentration Mode (shortened as C. Mode) Kill-all attack that drains a portion of C. Gauge. Only available when C. Gauge is in blue color. (After you performed C. Mode, C. Gauge will turn red for some time) Triangle button : Lock-on Lock onto nearest enemy automatically. Uses a little of C. Gauge. After you locked onto enemy, you can double lock-on other enemies by using left analog stick toward next enemy + triangle button. You can also keep locking on the same enemy to give him several shots. If you lock onto next enemy while the current lock flashes blue, combo mark will be displayed. This is the key to achieve high scoring. X button : Hide, Reload while hiding. Circle button : Come out from hiding, Shoot. Roll during Movement, if ‘Rolling’ is displayed on the screen. D-pad : Switch hiding places, Move to next areas when they are available. Left stick : Move aim. L1/R1 : Switch weapons while hiding. Notes . You can only switch weapons while hiding . You can reload while hiding and being exposed. To reload while hiding, press X. To reload while being exposed, press circle when your gun is empty. It is always recommended to hide while reloading, however. ------- Pickups ------- There are several items you can get while on the stage. To obtain them, shoot them up as you see them. Items can be dropped from enemies, or hidden in objects (you need to shoot them to reveal them) Weapon Pickup ------------- Yellow wireframes with the gun icon. After you pick a certain gun for the first time, and successfully complete the stage without dying, the gun will be added to Gun Collection and you can now select it before the stage. Even if you already have a particular weapon, getting them in the stage will let you use it immediately, but it’s lost after stage completion. All picked up weapon is Lv1. It is important to know what weapons you can pick up during particular stage so you don’t choose the same one in Gun Select screen. HP Recovery ----------- Blue wireframes with medkit icon. There are 2 types: small and large. The small one recovers little of your HP, while the large recovers much more. C. Recovery ----------- Blue wireframes with pills icon. Also comes in 2 types, this one to recover C. Gauge used for C. Mode and auto lock on. Triela’s Teddy -------------- Yellow wireframes with teddy icon. Shoot and it will jump. Keep shooting it while in the air till it’s gone. It adds extra scores. Magazines --------- Blue wireframes with magazines icon. Shoot with your current weapon to have that weapon’s ammo increased. ------- Scoring ------- . Lock on combo is the key in getting high scores in the game. First, lock onto most nearby enemy by moving left analog stick toward him + triangle button. Right when it flashes, lock onto next enemy by moving left analog stick toward next enemy + triangle button. You’ll notice the previous enemy is still locked on, and that the next enemy is locked on too with double score bonus mark on top of it. Continue locking on other enemies until you get the 3X, 4X, 5X bonus and so on, then shoot out. If the mark doesn’t appear, then your timing when you lock onto another enemy is off. Remember, lock on next enemy right when the previous lock on flashes. If you can’t lock on next enemy anymore, chances are your gun doesn’t have enough bullets to perform the shootout later on. Also note that not all weapons are lock on-able (but they may have advantages over quickness and strength). You might need some practice to get the timing right at first. But once you get used to it, it becomes pretty easy to pull off. Note that the double bonus not only doubles the scores starting from first enemy, and up by one multiplication value for the next one, it increases the damage as well. . There are 4 types of enemies in this game: handgun-type, smg-type (weak), smg-type (strong), sniper-type. Handgun-type might come in different models, but they are similar. Handgun-type gives 1000 scores when killed, smg-type (weak) gives 2500 scores, smg-type (strong) and rifle-type gives 5000 scores. So, during lock on combo, it is better to start with one that gives least scores, and build up the bonus mark to the one that gives highest scores. For example, there are 2 gun-type, 1 smg-type (weak) and 1 rifle-type enemies. Lock onto the 2 gun-type first, followed by smg-type, then to rifle-type, so its 2X 1000 + 3X 1000 + 4X 2500 + 5X 5000 = whopping 40000 as long as they carry the bonus marks. Of course it’s easier said than done. You might end up locking onto wrong enemy and get hit in the process. . When you shot enemies to death, you can still nail a few shots on him before he finally drops onto the ground (I think 2 is the most) to gain 500 scores for the first shot, 1000 for the second shot. If the enemy carries the bonus mark from Lock on combo, it will be applied here as well. Let’s say, the enemy carries 2X bonus mark, you’ll gain 3X 500 + 3X 1000 = 4500 extra scores if you manage to shoot him twice even after he is dead. So, carry a handgun with lots of ammo such as CZ 2nd and after a lock on combo shootout, give 2 extra shots on the one with highest bonus mark. If we were to add this point with example found on previous point (2 gun- type, 1 smg-type and 1 rifle-type), that would be 2X 1000 + 3X 1000 + 4X 2500 + 5X 5000 + 5X 500 + 5X 1000 = 47500. . When a bunch of enemies appears and you know that some of the enemies are stronger and don’t die in one shot with weak guns such as starting weapon P230SL, use the weak gun and normally shoot the stronger ones until the next shot will surely kill them (without killing them), then finish all of them off with lock on combo explained above. You get extra 100 scores for shots that don’t kill enemies. I will refer shots that do not kill enemy but are meant to get extra 100 scores and to get into a point one other shot will surely kill him ‘weaken shot’. Here is the number of weaken shots that can be pumped into certain enemies with P230SL: smg-type (weak) : 1 weaken shot smg-type (strong): 4 weaken shots rifle-type : 2 weaken shots The others will just die if you give them a single shot. It’s important to weaken the enemies first before doing the lock on combo or else they might not die even after the shootout, so instead of getting multiplied score for that certain enemy, you only get 100 scores. . When you lock on an enemy and shoot, you’ll gain double the score if you manage to kill him. Even the scores for shooting him after death is doubled! This is useful to gain most scores from a lone enemy! For eg. a lone handgun-type enemy. A normal single shot will kill him and award you with only 1000. But if you lock on him and shoot, plus shooting him 2 times after death, you get: 2X 1000 + 2X 500 + 2X 1000 = 5000! 5 times more! Which one is better when there are 2 handgun-type enemies only? auto lock on and 2 times shot after death, or finish them one by one using above method? With auto lock on + 2 shots: 2X 1000 + 3X 1000 + 3X 500 + 3X 1000 = 9500 With this method + 2 shots : 2 X 5000 = 10000 Apparently this method is better, but only applies for 2 hand-gun type enemies. For others, weaken shots then auto lock on method, followed by 2 shots after death on enemy with highest bonus mark is better for higher scoring. So this method is best used on any lonely enemy but remember, if you know the enemy won’t die with a single shot of your weapon, you must weaken him first with shots using weak guns such as P230SL so that the next shot will surely kill him, then you do the lock on and shoot, followed by 2 shots after death. . Summary: To get the most score of lone enemy: Shoot until next shot will surely kill him > lock on > shoot > shoot 2 times before he drops completely on the ground. To get the most score of crowds: shoot stronger enemies until next shot will surely kill them > lock on combo in order from enemy that gives least score to enemy that gives highest score > shootout > shoot 2 times on enemy with highest bonus mark before he completely drops onto the ground. . Shoot breakable objects to obtain extra 1000 scores each. . Shoot the teddy icon dropped from enemy for several times to get extra scores. . You’ll get bonus points after the stage completion in the results screen, depending on your speed, item collection and damage count. If you manage to collect more items, you’ll be awarded with more scores. When you are shot, you increase one damage count. The lower your damage count is, the more scores you get. These, three factors; Time, Get Items and Damage Count seem to have 30000 as the max bonus each. ------------------ Stages Walkthrough ------------------ Notes: . Follow strategy in Scoring to get high scores . Whenever there is a blue arrow, press the direction on D-pad accordingly to advance into next area. Sometimes there are 2, in which you need to choose your own path. . Whenever there is a yellow arrow, it means you can switch around 2 or more hiding places while engaging the enemy (but you don’t advance to next area; that’s the difference). Sometimes the enemies attack you in both directions, so be prepared to move around to dodge their shots. . When your health is reduced to half, Henrietta will move slower, and there is greater risk of getting shot while switching areas. She will move even slower when her health is really low, I think. Use rolling to reduce the risk of getting shot while moving. . Check Gun Collection section of this Faq to know how to collect every guns in this game, which are hidden in various stages and locked by certain requirements to be met etc. Stage 1-1 --------- Notes: . You can’t choose weapon here. . This particular stage, which serves as tutorial, is only available in Story Mode. First up, you are in Shooting Range. You are given a few objectives which purposes to familiarize yourself with the game. If you don’t understand Japanese, follow my words here: First objective: Get 50 scores and above with 8 bullets. Use left analog stick to move aim, press circle to shoot. This one is easy. Shoot the most center range to get 10 scores per shot. Second objective: Same, but further target. When the right arrow appears, press right on D-pad to make her move right. Third objective: Use auto lock on moving targets. Push left analog stick toward the target and press triangle in order to lock onto it (you can see the blue circle on the target if you are successful). Then press circle to shoot. Fourth objective: Same, but you need to shoot the targets before they are gone. When the right arrow appears, press right on D-pad. Fifth objective: Lock onto the single target several times before shooting. Push left analog stick toward the target and press triangle in order to lock onto it (you can see the blue circle on the target if you are successful). Repeat for several times before pressing circle to shoot. Sixth objective: Shoot onto the head of target to deal larger damage. Easy. Don’t use lock on feature. Aim at the head steadily and shoot. Shoot for several times. When the right arrow appears, press right on D-pad. You will now move into Freeshoot Area. Two arrows, one on the left and one on the right will appear. You are supposed to go left, so press left on D-pad. If you are feeling rebellious though, press right on D-pad. Jose will say you went to a wrong place and down arrow will appear. Press down on D-pad. That’s basically how you move Henrietta in this game. You can’t freely control her like common Action games, but you can make her switch areas. First objective: Shoot all 13 targets. Each target needs a bullet to shoot down. Note that your magazine contains only 8 bullets, so you will have to reload in the middle. To reload, press circle when the magazine is empty while you are in shooting stance, or press X while you are in hiding stance (to hide, press X). Reloading takes time so be aware or you might miss some targets while reloading and fail the objective. Use auto lock-on to make things easy. Second objective: Shoot all targets. Hide when red target appears. When the red targets appear, you are supposed to hide by pressing X. Reload at that time to make things easier. When the right arrow appears, press right on D-pad. Third objective: 3 sets of shooting you have to tackle. First Set: Get 8 scores and above in 40 seconds. Easy. Use auto lock-on to make things easy. Switch areas to find targets. You know the other area has enemies when the arrows are red in color with number of enemies indicated. The light blue target needs 2 shots. Try to use lock-on combo (described in Scoring). To do lock-on combo, in short, lock onto a target and while it flashes, lock onto another target. If you do it right, a bonus mark will appear on second target. If your timing is not right, it’s still a lock-on combo, but no bonus awarded. Second set: Get 18 scores and above in 40 seconds. Try to shoot all the appearing targets as quickly as possible with lock-on and try to use lock-on combo. Remember to hide when red target appears. Third set: Get 25 scores and above in 40 seconds. If you’re steady, you should barely make it. And you’re onto last area, simulation field training. This is Stage 1-2. Stage 1-2 Pillow Fight ---------------------- Objective: Kill all enemies under 5 minutes. The game gives you an advice, that if ever you are put under pressure, use C. Mode, a move that shoot all enemies in sight, by pressing square button. It depletes a blue gauge below health gauge, called C. Gauge. Press up on D-pad when the up arrow shows up. Enemies will appear by door. You can choose to shut them up immediately (remember the basics: shooting, hiding and reloading). Or wait until they all appear and move closer to you (around stage clock 04:40), and use lock-on combo and 2 shots after death (described in Scoring) to get high scores. This group of enemies is easy, since their shots rarely hit you and even if they do, it steals only a little portion of your health. Notice that when yellow caution mark appears above them, it means their shots are going to get you, so hide. If you manage to kill all 5 at a same time, notices 2 extra enemies appear from the doors. If you don’t, well, they might appear as soon as one of the first group is down. Finish them off, and when the right arrow appears, press right on D-pad, to move to the right area. Another group of enemies will appear. Follow the strategy above. If you wait long enough, there should be 5 in the screen. Kill all 5, and another 5 will appear. Meanwhile, notice the left arrow has become red with number of enemies. There are enemies in the previous area too. One of the enemies use LED aim and cause warning mark on top left screen. That guy deals larger damage than others. Taking him first is the first priority, though you still can indulge him in the lock-on combo if you wish. By the time you finish right area, the left area should be swarmed with 5 enemies and the warning mark appears. It seems one enemy on the left area is using LED as well. Go left by pressing left on D-pad and shoot them down. Then, you will be given 2 blue arrows. Press left on D-pad, since right area is empty hence no need to go there. Follow the strategy above. One of the enemies will leave a HP recovery small so be sure to pick it up by shooting it, to refill your health if needed, and to gain extra scores in Results screen. After the area is cleared, blue left arrow will show up. Move accordingly. Henrietta will hide below the stairs. Nice angle, eh? Well as the enemies show up, follow the ‘common’ strategy. Another set of enemies will appear on other area so when Warning mark shows up, be prepared to flee to the other area (even if you haven’t killed all enemies in current area) and finish the particular enemy off, and come back to previous area to continue where you left off. Mission Complete. :p Stage 2-1 (Stage 5-1) --------------------- Second training level? Bah. Anyway, the new enemy in this round is a single moving machine gun. Note that in 5 minutes, not only you have to destroy this machine gun, you’ll have to kill all enemies as well. So, engage enemies like usual with common strategy of high scoring while giving the machine gun some shoots if you happen to meet it. It gives machine gun quite a damage if you use lock-on combo. In certain points, more than one LED shooter appear on different areas. Just kill one of them so that it doesn’t disturb you furthermore while engaging the other side. After it’s done it’s time for Round 2. This time, you have to fight 3 machine guns. Apparently, shooting them at the head damages them better so you might want to manually aim their heads. Their shots rarely hit you, but when they do, it is quite a damage. Whenever warning appears, move out of the way... something has thrown a bomb ;) Stage 3-1 (Stage 6-1) --------------------- This time, Henrietta is on the boat driven by Gioseffo. As the boat makes roundabout turns, there are 3 areas to go to. Go to the area indicated with red arrow to advance the storyline. When you face Pea, shoot the surrounding enemies first if she can hide. Otherwise, involve her in lock-on combo. To Collect F Seven, start of the stage, prior to meeting Pea, go to the area indicated by left arrow (no right arrow is seen). You will get it from one of the enemies. In this stage, you tend to re-visit some areas and meet same group of enemies. Just do your best ^^ Stage 3-2 (Stage 6-2) --------------------- This time, after some busting, there will be a cutscene and now you have 10 minutes time limit. You can choose to take left or right path. Left is longer, it should make you gain more scores, but if you choose the right path, you will meet a special enemy that drops F-MF1. Anyway, just do it right and you shouldn’t get any problem. Stage 3-3 (Stage 6-3) --------------------- Boss battle! Well, hide when Pea is shooting. When the boats take different paths or when Pea is not shooting, lock onto her for several times possible before the caution mark appears before you shoot. It should give her quite a damage. Pea will also throw bombs at times, especially if you keep hiding. After you give her some damage, round 2 starts, this time with another boat. Just do the same stuff like you did to Pea. If you need health or concentration, there are icons scattered thoroughout the areas to shoot. Shoot the enemies down before the time limit. Stage 4-1 (Stage 7-1) --------------------- This time you will be chasing Enrst! Mark the time limits. If you shoot the hiding Enrst, he will run and, you gotta make a quick work on the other enemies before the time limit reaches zero. This stage has some tough set of enemies, but it should be no problem if you master the techniques. Remember to shoot the advertisement stands for extra scores. Near the end of stage with 2 stationary trains, you can get Mk23 from one of the enemies on top of the trains. Stage 4-2 (Stage 7-2) --------------------- This time you are inside the train! Wow, really cool. Anyway, mark the time limits. There are lot of windows to shoot to gain extra scores. There is not much to say but it’s a very cool stage. Stage 4-3 (Stage 7-3) --------------------- First part of this stage is the same as chasing Enrst, ensure you get all the icons to refill your health and C. gauge. Then, it comes to boss fight. Shoot the 2 bikers. Remember to lock on as much as you can for lock-onable weapons before you finally shoot. After one biker is down, round 2 starts. This time you can shoot Enrst. The bikers tend to stop now, so it’s easy to target them. Anyway, try to search for Enrst. If you see arrows with 2 enemies indicated, Enrst should be on that area. Work out on him aside the bikers; not only you get extra scores and prevent him from throwing annoying bombs, he will drop a powerful RTRS1941 as well. Note the bikers may rush at you, so hide. This boss fight is easy and should pose no problem. Shoot advertisement stands if you need health or concentration. -------------- Gun Collection -------------- Notes . Guns that are hidden in stages must have their icon shot in order to obtain it. As soon as you obtain it, you can start using it in the stage. However, if you die, or choose to end the stage by menu, you will lose that weapon and won’t be able to see it in Gun Collection. . Guns that require high scores can only be obtained in Story Mode, and is obtained after completion of the stage. You also can’t die and continue as the score will reset. F Seven ------- . To level up guns, you must obtain high scores in particular modes. . You can see the requirements by viewing any gun in Gun Collection. . Even if you meet the requirements for lv3, you can’t skip lv2 of the gun. . By levelling up, the guns will have more ammo. . At lv3, you can double equip handguns (P230SL, P239, H Power, P7M8, CZ 2nd), but you need to use 2 slots for P230SL and P239. . Take a look at Scoring section of this faq if you have difficulty getting high scores. F Seven ------- lv 2 – Get 150000 in Score Mode Stage 1-2. lv 3 – Get 500000 in Score Mode Stage 4-3 (Stage 7-3). (The trick is to keep shooting at Enrst) ----------- Unlockables ----------- . After you beat Story Mode, you’ll gain Score Mode. Score Mode is basically the same as Story Mode just that you play a portion of it, and there is no voice acting in Gun Select Screen. This is the major mode to level up guns. . Also, by beating Story Mode, you can now switch between Henrietta’s 2 outfits in Gun Select screen of any stage, whether in Story Mode or Score Mode, by pressing L1/R1 button. . If you have Gunslinger Girl vol.1 save file, by converting the profile in Profile Select screen of vol.2, you can obtain guns you unlocked in vol.1, and Henrietta’s vol.1 alternate costume. --------- Anime DVD --------- 4 episodes of the Anime is included in the other disc. They are: Episode 6 – Gelato Henrietta’s story Episode 7 – Protezione Rico’s story Episode 8 – Il Principe de regno della pasta Angelica’s background story Episode 9 – Lycoris radiata Herb Elsa’s introduction ----------- Speculation ----------- . Vol.3 is the last of the series, considering the last 3 stages and few more guns left should be covered in it, along with last episodes of the anime. . If there is Vol.4, it would be something substantially different. You can play the other girls, the story doesn’t cover Enrst and Pea anymore. . Henrietta’s alternate costume in Vol.3 will be the red coat. . You may not be able to bring Vol.2’s guns into Vol.1, but it’s possible for Vol.3 guns to be converted to Vol.2, as Vol.2 has the convert option, and states the guns not available in Vol.2 as ‘Other Disk’ instead of Next Disk. . Vol.3, like Vol.1, will include many trademark weapons. Rico’s Cz75, Triela’s Winchester M1897, Claes’ H&K MP5PDW and H&K VP70. It’s understandable they didn’t include these in Vol.2, else Vol.3 will contain weapons unfamiliar to the series. ------- Credits ------- . CJayC for putting the faq online. .
